Microsoft OEM System Builder

Why would I have a computer built?

The simple answer is that people want to:

  1. Surf the Internet and do email at Home, and maybe play a game or do homework
  2. use a computer at work to do accounting, write reports, calculate budgets, do email, surf the Internet, and maybe play simple games
  3. need a computer for specialized hobbies or work
  4. play games with their friends.

Users falling into the first two categories could purchase their systems from big box stores or on line. Users in the other two categories would seriously consider having a system custom built.

Why Custom?

A pre-assembled computer is designed to "fit" into a lot of different situations and if something isn't exactly right, the consumer is expected to change the way they do things to fit the equipment. A pre-assembled system has a set power supply rated for the components that are included in the initial design. Adding or changing components after sale may increase the load requirement for power. Also, the processor may not be the highest quality chip the manufacturer makes. *** All processors are designed to have a certain amount of "on die" memory identified as the L1 & L2 Cache memory. I have personally seen systems where these values are 0 instead of the manufacturer's original specifications. The processor still works, just not as fast as designed.

With a custom system from MicroByte TekSolutions you get exactly what you pay for. Do you need RAID for data security? Do you have special video requirements that require a high end graphics card? Do you want to use the computer as the central point in your Entertainment Room? Or, do you simply just want to buy a computer and begin using it the minute you plug it in?

Custom vs Retail

When you purchase a retail (or mail order) computer, you accept responsibility for unpacking the system and assembling all the cords and cables. You also accept responsibility for finishing the installation of the operating system, performing all the required updates for drivers and chipset's, installing all the operating system updates since the original date of release, install all the utility software like Acrobat Reader and Java, and ensuring you are protected against infection from outside sources.

A custom system from MicroByte TekSolutions comes fully assembled, configured, and updated. It is delivered to your door, set up and installed, and connected to your printer, web cam, etc. at no additional cost. The general mechanics of the system are also explained to you including email, Internet, Burning Discs, writing a letter, etc.

All custom systems from MicroByte TekSolutions come with a one year On Site parts and labour warranty. For a small fee this warranty can be extended, but unlike some resellers we will tell you that if a part is going to fail it should happen within the first 90 days. Extended warranties are generally 100% profit for the seller.

If you are thinking about buying a new computer, call us and talk about it. A 15 minute phone call could decide whether you love your new computer or just use it.
