While I was in High School in Toronto, my summer and weekend job was installing in-house Payroll Software to major corporations in Toronto, and then training their staff how to use the program. Pretty heady stuff for a 16 year old kid, but after one day I was hooked. I knew what I wanted to do for a living. "Computers"!
I went on to University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree (B. Sc.) in Computer Science and Mathematics. I worked as a programmer and programmer analyst on mainframes for about two years, and then was offered a job programming in Basic for a company working with a whole new computer. The computer was an IBM 5110. It had a built in 4 inch screen and two external 8 inch floppy drives for "mass storage". I had no inkling then, that within 18 months this computer's big brother, the IBM 5150, would be released on an unsuspecting public. The industry name was IBM 5150, but the world knew it as "The IBM PC". A new revolution was born in September 1981 and only a handful were aware.
There are many career positions in the computer industry, and I have probably tried most of them at one time or another. Programmer; Programmer Analyst; Systems Analyst; Systems Designer; Database Administrator; Database Designer; Document Writer; Trainer; Salesman; Network Designer; Network Installer; System Builder; System Implementer/Integrator; Service Technician; and Desk Side Support Technician. I have worked on large projects (software for the Canada Space Arm) and small projects (simple accounting systems). I have been in the industry for 41 years, and I am still learning, and still loving it.
Education and Research is the backbone of technological growth, and to that end I have returned to school when required for personal and technical upgrading. I have obtained and hold current designations in: Novell Certified Network Administrator (CNA); Novell Certified Network Engineer (CNE); Microsoft Certified Professional - specializing in the Internet (MCP+I); Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). As for research, I built a lab where I test new hardware and software. I surf the Internet for new applications to help keep systems safe and running at their optimum.
MicroByte TekSolutions was formally created in 1998 to provide IT services to small companies that didn't have in-house staff. Very quickly I noticed a niche to provide on-site computer services to home based business users as well as residential computer owners. Being able to work 9 to 5 was over. I immediately incorporated "Same Day On-Site Service" into my list of services and now set my schedule around my client's needs.
A call to MicroByte TekSolutions may be the last call you need to make for general problems. Clients are valued highly. Freeware that I use to "heal" your computer problems are left installed and you are shown how to use them. If you have more questions after I leave (and most people do) you are urged to send them along via email. I personally answer all my email and will often provide additional limited support at no additional cost.
If you have a problem you can't fix by yourself, Professional Same Day On-Site Service is only s phone call away.

MicroByte TekSolutions is a Mobile Solution Provider in that we come to your home or office rather than having you lug your computer into our lab. The other major benefit is that your computer is fixed the day you call, not sometime next week.
